Happy New Year!

I've been poking around in blogland today, the first day of 2008, and noticed that a lot of bloggers do a retrospective of their year as a way to kick off the new year ... I figure, you've been here with me for the ups and downs of my year (and if you haven't, that's what archived posts are for!), so for me to give you a 2007 Quick and Dirty would be repetitious.

I will tell you some things that I am looking forward to in 2008:
  1. I am excited about making more things for me (and probably for T), and am thinking that he and I will take priority in my knitting life. I have been knitting things for everyone else and getting more and more stash built up of projects for me -- darn it, I am going to make things for me! I want several new pairs of socks, and have a bunch more patterns bookmarked -- this will be the year of knitting for me!
  2. This blog has brought me more joy, satisfaction and "fun" than I thought possible by keeping a web-diary. I really enjoy the broad circle of people who pop by and read , and comment, and am really happy that I decided to start blogging. That being said ... look for a contest in the next few days as my first blogiversary is in less than 2 weeks! I am thinking yarn prizes, that should be ok, eh? And am still thinking on the details of the actual contest part of the contest.
  3. Knit Nite -- I am so glad that this small group of knitters is meeting on Wednesdays ... it is one of the high points of my week. I am grateful for the fantastic group of knitting ladies who inspire, teach and make me laugh each week. There is a glitch right now in this week's plans -- I have been trying to get a location booked for a while now, but right now do not have a location for tomorrow night's Knit Nite. I had been trying to connect with the owner of the restaurant we had decided to try out, but haven't been able to reach her when she's in, and when I called today to firm up the plans, found out they are closing for 3 weeks in January, starting .tomorrow. Crap! Anyhow, my backup plan of the Superstore is not in place and confirmed either as they did not have their bookings book for 2008 when I last checked with them just before Christmas. I will be trying them first thing in the morning, and will post news by noontime as to our location -- I am fairly sure we will be at the Superstore at 7 p.m., but check back here before you pack your knitting bag and head out. If it doesn't work out, I guess we will postpone it until the following Wednesday, unless someone has an alternate idea of where to go. I am open to suggestions!
  4. I think there is something big on the horizon for us this year ... I can't tell you right now until the details get worked out, but I think it will be exciting, involves travel and the fulfilment of a dream (and I am hopeful when I look back on this at the close of 2008, it will have happened!). That's all I can say right now!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve (we spent ours with friends, enjoying a wonderful dinner, conversation and fun), and that you have lots of great things to look forward to in 2008.

We have faith in you, our trusted knitty leader! I'll be checking in to find out where or when we'll be meeting again!

I'll check in tomorrow, too, to see where we are going. I should be able to make it, wherever it is.

I wanna make more stuff for me, too, this year. (Considering I have a ton of sock yarn and yarn to make four sweaters for myself...)

Exciting news and you can't tell! What kind of a tease is that?

I too will await a message re Knit Nite.

Hey, just had a thought...maybe you'll get this, maybe you won't...if you can't find a location for tonight, maybe we could plan a trip to HAY for Saturday instead? Everyone seems on board, although it is a bit of short notice. Anyhow, just a shot in the dark.
