It's good to be home

We had a great trip ... and even though it was a balmy 80F there daily, and I didn't have to cook, clean or look after anything or anyone, it is still nice to be home again. I was missing the little things of home (its hard to be away from the critters for a week, and I thought about the kitties and puppers often -- everyone was healthy and happy when we returned! A bit of a relief, as Elvis is nearly 15 and a little frail).

I gotta say - it was a great way to turn 40 and I highly recommend going south for any milestone birthday! We did have a few bumps and mishaps along the way, but that's all part of the makings of a great tale!

We flew to Toronto Thursday evening, and were scheduled to leave the next morning at 6:30 a.m. (just ahead of a 25 - 50 cm predicted snowstorm in Toronto). We were delayed for nearly 2 hours, had the plane deiced, and then we were off on our merry way!

We arrived to blue skies, sunshine and hot! hot! hot! (you may notice a recurring theme here -- I became a bit palm tree obessed over the course of the week).

This is the view from our terrace at the hotel, and some shots of the room (swanky bathroom festooned with flowers - you don't often get to use the word festooned, but there were literally flowers in every possible location in this bathroom... tucked in amongst the soaps and shampoos, adorning the towel displays, in the soap dishes, and even artfully arranged in the toilet paper fan!)

Our room was just a few minutes walk from the beach (who knew the Atlantic Ocean could be so warm? Even in August, in NS, you freeze yer extremities off!). The resort had several pools ... but we spent most of our time at the main pool, which had a convenient swim-up bar.

We celebrated my birthday all day long on Groundhog Day ... and they were making Coco Loco drinks ... so I had to try one.
There are so many things to tell ... we had a lot of little adventures, and I don't want to rave on and on today. I may add more to this later, or post a bit more on another day. I do want to get a lot of it recorded on the blog, because I use this as a diary/journal for myself. If you are interested in reading about the little quirks of th trip, check back every few days. If you don't want to read about it, skip reading for the next week ... by then I should be back to the regular "mostly knitting, most of the time" format!
Cheers!

I want to hear everything and see tons of pictures! I don't get out much, remember. I live vicariously through other people's vacations.
