It seems like even though you try to be thorough and think of all possible scenarios, things still go awry. I made my nephew a pair of fingerless gloves a few weeks ago, and knitted a third one to go with the pair, thinking that kid's are notorious for losing one mitten, and that even if he didn't lose one, it would probably be helpful for my sister in the mornings to not have to try to find the second mitten to the pair (the odds of finding a pair when there are really 3 mitts are much higher!).
My sister and the kids are home visiting for the weekend, so I thought I'd check and see if my nephew is still enjoying his mitts ... she gave me a sheepish look and asked me if I remembered why I knit 3 mitts, and said that she figured when I gave them to Jack that I had gone to a lot of trouble for no reason, that he wouldn't lose a mitten. Then she told me that they can only find one of the three, that the other 2 are lost.
What are the odds? and now I am out of the Bernat Naturals Cashmere that I used, so they won't have another mitt for a while ... until my next trip to Bridgewater. And I never did get a picture of them! LOL!

How funny is that? You were so on top of things, knitting the extra glove, and he loses two! Who woulda thunk it?

He lost two because you knit three. If you had knit four, he would have lost three. It's the knitting law of averages. Or something like that.
That's too funny! But that's the way it always goes. I try to be organized and think I'm doing smart things, but it usually backfires on me.
Well auntie, looks like you'll be doing some more knitting soon. It always makes me happy when something gets lost or ruined because it was getting used. Nothing worse than putting in all the time and effort only to find out your item is sitting in a drawer waiting for 'a special occassion'.
