The Sights, the sounds, the pagentry ...

I am going to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo tomorrow night! It is a pretty awe-inspiring event -- I have been 2 times before, and always end up in tears or a big ole lump in my throat (one word -- bagpipes! The music makes me very sentimental). Plus, there is usually a tribute to fallen soldiers or RCMP officers killed in the line of duty. Even though I end up crying, I still love it -- it is almost like a circus, there is so much activity going on, and acts from all over the world.

This is an event I organize through work for the public to take part in and is generally one of the most popular events of the season. If you ever have a chance to go -- go, you will not regret it!

Have fun! I've been there a few times, got lots of pictures from the last time that turned out quite well. (I used an old 35mm hand-adjust everything camera Dad won when he was in grade eight. That way I used high speed film and no flash.)

My favorite group (which has been there every time I've gone) is the group of little boys from England who do the dirtbike stunts. They scare the heck out of me even though I know they're trained and know what they're doing! I usually put my hands over my face and watch through my fingers. They go so fast and pass each other in the air so close... And some of them are really little, like maybe five or six years old!

The window behind my desk faces the Metro Centre. It's been a busy week or two with groups coming in and practicing. Now there are a lot of tourists milling around waiting to go into the shows.

The boys in the Norwegian band are particularly cute.

I forgot -- Thursday, Friday, Saturday there's 15% off pretty much storewide, some exceptions apply. So you can get 15% off socks yarn! Needles, patterns, etc. I think it covers everything except photocopies, film developing, custom framing, computers, cameras, etc. (To tell the truth I didn't know we were having anything super special til I got here today.)
