Way Late Watermelons

I've been knitting, albeit slowly ... these were my March pick for the Self Imposed Sock Club, but got set aside so I could start and finish a vest to wear to the Maritime Fibre Arts Retreat. I had barely started the socks when I took them to the Retreat ... just the ruffle of the first sock was done. They were a pretty easy knit to take to the Retreat - 3 x 1 rib is mindless enough to work on while chatting!

Details:Pattern: Ruffled Garden Socks by Marsha Dayan
Needles: 2.75 mm dpns
Yarn: Kertzer on Your Toes 4 ply socks yarn, colour ON223817 (very descriptive, eh?), contrast heel toes and cuff yarn was Fortissima Socka colour 1012
Modifications: None (although I was tempted, as I don't usually like a short row heels - I liked the idea of the garter stitch heel and toe in the contrast colour though, so stayed true to the pattern)
Time in: March 1 - May 4 (hence the name - as these were the SISC2011 choice for March - because I knit them the entire month of April, I didn't do an April sock club choice!) They could have been done in a much quicker time, had I not knit a vest and two pairs of birthday ankle socks for mothers (mine and T's mom) in the middle of knitting these socks
Again?: Definitely, although the cast on for the ruffle is quite time consuming, the result is TOTALLY worth it! I think they are quite cute ... and would like to knit them again in another colour combination. Definitely a girlie sock ... and the next pair will also be in a "girlie" colour combo!
