Baby Surprize

Finally ... a model for my Baby Surprise Jacket!

And another surprise ... for some of my readers (but not all of you!) If you live in my community, chances are you have heard the good news ... the baby so skillfully modelling the BSJ will also be modelling other baby wear/handknits I will be knitting. I'd like to introduce you to Mr. Monkeypants**, our son. We found out on Dec. 16 that we had finally been approved to adopt him, and we left on Dec. 26 to go meet our son. When we left, the social workers had told me that the transition with Mr. Monkeypants could take as long as a month, and we would all take our signals as to how soon he was ready to live with us full time from him, and that we couldn't rush him (or hold him back when he was ready). He bonded pretty much instantly with my husband T who is truly a baby magnet - children tend to like him a lot!) and soon after, he and I were close too.

To make a long story short, we came home on January 9th, and Mr. Monkeypants is exceeding all expectations. He's adjusting well, is in a routine, and acts like he has always lived here! T and I thrilled with the changes in our lives ... and I am enjoying my parental leave (I go back to work in September - and are so glad I am able to spend this time with our son :)

Knitting time has been limited, but I do have my first Fo of 2012 to show in my next post -- I just need to find the time to take a few pictures of it!

Happy New Year, and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! I got the best gift EVER!

** For now, I am calling him Mr. Monkeypants on the internets - I am a bit nervous about children, photographs and predators, and haven't quite made up my mind if I am comfortable having pictures of him, accompanied by his name "out there". A lot of friends have been asking for pictures, so I wanted to show them our boy, but for now, we'll use a pseudonym!

Heddy,

I'm sitting at my desk, siping tears from my eyes. What wonderful news! Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear you have a Mr. Monkeypants. (That's what we call the Mogrunt at home, along with about 17 other nicknames).

My heart is bursting, I'm so happy for your family.

xoxo

Finally it's letting me post, it wouldn't last night.

Glad to hear he's settled in, it must feel so good! Can't wait to meet him in person. I figured you must be taking parental leave, how nice you've got all spring and summer home with him!

I know I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I am just so thrilled for you guys. He certainly is a sweetie and it just seems as though he's been a part of your life forever. So glad to hear that things are going well. Enjoy your leave, how wonderful to have all that time. Can't wait to get out and about with you two again soon!

Congratulations! Words cannot describe the joy of becoming a mother. Our daughter was 10 months old when she made my husband I a family and it was the beginning of the best days of my life. Enjoy and cherish each moment with your son.
