To Paraphrase John Denver ...

"Thank God I'm A Country Girl", because we are now the proud owners of a 1978 Massey Ferguson farm tractor.

T. wanted one for a while to do some work on the woodlot(s), and has been looking around, and found one in Stewiake. Yesterday he went up to see it with his father and my father (the tractor techie), and they liked what they saw -- it needs some work, but it runs well, and has low-hours, and T is confident that he can make it a good woods tractor.

This is a before picture -- and as work progresses - more pics will follow.

It is quite similar to my father's tractor ... both are Massey's and from the '70s, both are red, and both have tires ... LOL! I don't know much about tractors! But I don't have to know much -- T will be the one using it. I grew up in the country -- we had hens that we collected eggs from, we raised turkeys and pigs for food, and every year without fail, we had at least 4 plots of land set aside for vegetable gardens (potatoes, peas, beans, carrots, beets, onions, corn, squash, turnip, -- you name it, we grew it!), and my father has a number of wood lots that he has always harvested logs for lumber and firewood from, so I can relate with the "need/want" of a tractor.

I am not really sure how this relates to knitting, but it was something exciting that happened here yesterday and today! I suppose I will be knitting more toques, scarfs and wool socks to fight the cold of riding around on a tractor in the winter - I knew there had to be a knitting angle in here somewhere.

Blogger ate my first comment. You may get this twice.

You'll be able to knit him all sorts of goodies next winter to keep him warm! I bet he's like a kid with a new toy. Now you'll have to finish that little sweater for a certain someone... (Do I sense an "after" picture of the two finished items together at some point in the future?)
