A Pair in Progress

These have already made an appearance on Ravelry, but so far hadn't made a debut on the Blog, so here are .... "Anniversary socks for T".

Our 10 year wedding anniversary is Sept. 4, and I have been knitting away on these socks for him as a surprise since July 25. Just a simple rib, and knitting them 2 at a time on 2 sets of dpns (in tandem like Nova Knitter has been doing lately) -- I like knitting them this way, although it does tie up a lot of needles (I have this pair on the go, and a pair of Hederas from a few years ago, all on 2.75 dpns, that once I finish will free up 4!!! sets of dpns (plus there are a lot of other sock projects not being knit in tandem ... lots more 2.5 and 2.75 mm dpns being held captive by UFOs -- I gotta fix that soon!). Seems like a waste of needles, but I am easily bored/distracted, and can't get back to the Hederas ... yet.

I hope T likes the colours of these socks (he loves wool socks, and will wear whatever I knit him, but I like it when he likes the colours. He knows I don't enjoy knitting dull colours ... and the other day said he'd like a pair just like the ones Nova Knitter made , but with the red down at the toes. I cringed a little at that, because the only way to guarantee that the red is at the toes is to knit a pair toe-up, a technique I have not mastered (stoopid crazy cast ons!) - he's ok with colourful socks.

The end is in sight, and unless I am distracted by something fun and exciting in the knitting world (which could easily happen, but I hope not), I expect that these socks will be finished LONG before our anniversary. If not, they won't be the first pair made as an anniversary gift that got given later ... I have a very understanding husband ;)

I could never have guessed that T liked those socks of Nova Knitter's, lol! You are so lucky to have a man that likes funky socks, unlike another certain T.

I'm starting to get the feeling that maybe you like to knit socks?
