Whooo's obsessed?

Not me, that's for sure.

Well, maybe I have a little problem ...


one thing does lead to another ...


and then I feel guilty because they looked lonely ...

but, just because I had already cast on for a fourth before the thrid was done, doesn't mean I'm obsessed ... does it?

This paliament of three owls is going to be sent off by mail as a Halloween gift to family out of province (well, maybe it is a wee bit obsessive to have to look up what to call a group of owls, but -- I digress) ... so I started the fourth one (for me, of course) as I will miss the wide eyed, unblinking stares and chunky little bodies when they ship out!) I don't know if you ever totally grow out of the love of stuffed animals -I melt over the cute faces, and squishable bodies :)

I knit these owls from my stash, with assorted acrylic and acrylic/wool blends for ease of washing (they are going to little kids, so I am anticipating them needing a periodic wash due to the results of being loved by a preschooler). I based the owls on this pattern and my imagination, used 3.75 mm dpns to ensure a tight fabric so the stuffings wouldn't show through. Some of the yarn was Bernat Jaquard, James Brett marble, Patons Decor, Sandnes Garn Perfect, and other blends I had in the stash ... I am happy to say, I did not purchase one thing for these owls (except a bag of poly fibre fill for the stuffing of the final owl)! They are a good stashbuster, and knitting from the stash on these allowed me to be a bit creative in my colour choices, instead of my usual "matchy - matchy" instinct when knitting for other people. The one I am knitting for me is from a remanent of Bernat Jacquard in blues that is not going to have quite enough yardage to finish the body ... so now I am questioning whether to do the wings in a colour that matches the body (I have navy and ivory in my stash in the right weight, or to go buy another ball so the wings will match .... hmmm - if I do that, I can knit a second owl the same as the first, for fraternal twins, but if I knit from the stash, I can stop knitting owls when I am done this one -- arghh - help! advice? Please!)
